The quote on the dust jacket front of this fine copy states that her 1926 publication, The Land, was "probably the most successful long poem produced by any writer in this country since the war," but that this new work, "though completely different in design and in many other respects, is a worthy successor. It is of a more philosophical nature, its theme being the poet's intimate reflections induced by the solitude of night, reflections upon love, God and the universe, beauty and truth, life and death"
