Jane Austen

Jane Austen

1775 - 1817

Jane Austen was an English novelist whose most noted work includes Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), Emma (1815), Northanger Abbey (1818), and Persuasion (1818). Set among the landed gentry, her novels are social commentary disguised as romantic fiction filled with realism, and irony. Austen's works were popular during her lifetime and, notably, the story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy has lost none of its appeal.
