Vita Sackville-West was an English poet and author. She is best known for her novels The Edwardians (1930) and All Passion Spent (1931). She is the only writer to win the Hawthornden Prize twice, once in 1927 for The Land, and later in 1933 with her Collected Poems. She is inextricably linked with Virginia Woolf with whom she had an affair in the 1920s. Sackville-West was the inspiration for Woolf's novel Orlando.
