Small black and white photograph of the author at the beach, impression on upper left corner from paper clip and author's name written in black ink in unknown hand at bottom. O'Neill's signature in blue ink detached from a letter is included; near fine scarce candid portrait of the author.

This photograph was likely taken at Cape Cod in the spring of 1937 by New England photographer Alton H. "Blackie" Blackington, who took several other photographs of O'Neill with his wife Agnes Boulton, and daughter Oona on May 7th that were subsequently used by the New York Times.
