American artist and printmaker Terry Winters (born in 1949, in Brooklyn) studied at the Pratt Institute, and had his first solo exhibition at the Sonnabend Gallery in 1982. He had solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Tate Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and his work is held by many major museums.
David Shapiro (born in 1947, in New Jersey) is a poet (New York School of Poetry), and art historian (Professor of Fine Art), and is the author of 'Social Realism: Art as a Weapon.' His poetry collection, A Man Holding an Acoustic Panel (published by E P Dutton in 1971) was nominated for a National Book Award.
