A very rare pattern book, being an anthology of late Baroque designs by (principally) Bolognesses artists, architects, and designers, compiled and engraved by Panfili (1723-1812) for the use of young designers. After completing work in Fermo notably for the Sala dell'Aquila nel Palazzo dei Priori, Panfili established himself in Bologna in 1767, where he worked as an engraver for the publisher Petronio Della Volpe (1721-1794), engraving, among other works for that publisher, his 1769 edition of Vignola’s CINQUE ORDINI, and, a few years after this work, the engravings for for a 1786 edition for Leonardo da Vinci’s TRATTATO DELLA PINTURA.
Some of the other artists’ work included here are; Flaminio Minozzi (1735-1817), architect, designer; Mauro Antonio Tesi, (1730-1766), painter; Giuseppe Civoli (1705-1778), architect; Sebastiano Cavina (? ); Giovanni Calegari (1785-1783)
A genuinely rare book, and important to the history of Bolognese art.
