Item #243536

Du Choul's classic works on Roman religion and Roman military practices, featuring the beautiful woodcuts attributed to Pierre Eskric, were intended to be published together, but in fact were published separately in folio (Discours de la Religion in 1556; De la castramentation & discipline militaire in 1555, and again separately in 1557), due to delays involving preparation of Discours de la Religion; the two, however, are frequently found bound together. This is the first edition in quarto, "plus complète", according to Brunet.
