Item #233228

A life of scholar, printer, librarian, and "Scotland's formost Latinist" (ODNB) Thomas Ruddiman. His RUDIMENTS was the standard 18th-century Latin grammar and while keeper to the Advocates' library he acquired an "unrivalled collection of early Scottish books" (ODNB). He was also a fierce Jacobite, engaging his press and his pen in various pamphlet wars. This LIFE, by noted economist George Chalmers, includes a list of works from Ruddiman's press.
