Original watercolor cover conception, prepared for evaluation by the magazine's art editor. Writing in The New Yorker of December 15, 1997, Lee Lorenz, the magazine's art editor from 1973-93 and subsequently cartoon editor, noted: “Julian De Miskey, the artist who signed his work M, was one of the most prolific and resourceful of the first wave of New Yorker artists. He did spots, cartoons, and covers, and helped create the decorative style of The Talk of the Town…” All New Yorker original covers and conceptuals are sought after, and the market is growing, especially for such quality work as De Miskey's.
