From Diderot-d’Alembert’s Encyclopédie, which was published in Paris, Neuchatel, and Amsterdam, from 1751-1780. The plates (Recueil de Planches) were published in 11 volumes from 1762-1777, and are among the glories of book illustration of the 18th century — as are these fine plates.
