An unusual and distinguished artifact of a 19th century seance attended by Mrs. Harriet Beecher Stowe, W. F. Cody, Mrs. Samuel Clemens, F. B. Carpenter, Steele MacKaye and others. Much of the ledger is unused, but page 33 has the following entry:
"Record of 1st Psychologic Seance—

The second blank flyleaf has the ink ownership inscription of the MacKaye family (related to author Percy MacKaye): "Mary Hazel MacKaye, Shirley, Massachusetts, April 29th, 1894 / Mrs. Steele MacKaye, Shirley, Massachusetts."
The only other entry in the entire ledger is on the final page, which lists the dates of eight financial transactions.
