In the “Middle of the Dark Ages” Jack Kriendler and Charlie Berns opened a speakeasy at 21 West Fifty Second Street, and after the end of Prohibition, the ‘21’ Club became a widely celebrated New York landmark. This lavish keepsake includes original contributions by Lucius Beebe, Bill Tilden, Damon Runyon, Lowell Thomas, Ed Sullivan, and several other authors. Among the illustrators/artists offerings are pieces by Constantin Alajalov, Dean Cornwell, Walt Disney, James Montgomery Flagg, Alex (“Flash Gordon”) Raymond, “Popeye” Segar, and Rube Goldberg.
