Some rubbing around the edges, front hinge cracked along top but structurally unaffected; closed tear to dedication page, previously restored, and closed tear to last page of text.

Inscribed on an inserted leaf, bound-in at the time of presentation: "H. R. H., The Princess Beatrice from Tennyson." The princess was only five years old at the time. Tennyson, the Poet Laureate from 1850-1892, wrote a poem dedicated to the Princess which was published in Tiresias and Other Poems (1895).
