Item #373599

Pound writes "Private" to an unknown recipient: Can't remember which paper Lauzanne writes on; but shd. like him to marked copy of this. or if it is too strong for you to print. forward him the original."

The reference may be to Stéphane Lauzanne (1874-1958), editor of Le Matin, who was sentenced after the liberation of France to 20 years in solitary confinement for "intelligence avec l’ennemi" (collaboration). Pound concludes the letter with a characteristic and emphatic second paragraph in manuscript ink: "Damn it all the last sentence in my letter is by [—]. Well true. and out to be SAID." Then at the bottom it mentions "enclosure by [GH?] (crossed out) ['Voice of T.R.]"
