Early Froben edition of a pedagogical work by Erasmus, “On the Writing of letters”, first published in 1522, with a collection of aphorisms or “Parallels” gathered out of Plutarch’s Moralia, Seneca, Lucian, Xenophon, Demosthenes, Aristotle, Pliny, and Theophrastus. An edition was published in Cologne in the same year, and the work was a standard throughout the sixteenth century.
