William Fuller-Maitland was an English art collector and Liberal politician, and a friend of Samuel Butler's for many years. The letter agrees to an upcoming luncheon where they will discuss some of their favorite castles. A number of letters between Butler and the Fuller-Maitland family are held in institutions, but Butler letters are rare in commerce.
