This is the exceptionally lovely 1987 anthology of black and white jazz images by the late, great Los Angeles photographer William Claxton, and the first English-language monograph of Claxton's work. While forever associated with Chet Baker and the West Coast scene of the '50s and '60s, Claxton's selection here is a virtual who's who of the history of jazz from 1953–1963. Accompanying text by Leonard Feathers and Terry Southern.
