Fifteen wonderful stories selected from the volume of folk tales by Asbjörnsen and Moe entitled “Norske Folkeeventyr.” Danish artist Kay Nielsen (1886–1957) studied in Paris and lived in England in the years before the First World War, and his magical illustrations show an innate understanding of these tales.
Inscribed by the artist in ink on the verso of the title page, “Helen Nestorig with kindest regards Kay Nielsen June 2 1939."
The most beautiful of the twentieth-century's volumes of illustrated fairy tales. Copies of the trade edition are rarely seen signed or inscribed.
