This was the eighteenth of twenty privately printed Conrad publications produced by Thomas J. Wise. This piece, a review of Hugh Clifford's Studies in Brown Humanity, had originally appeared in the April 23, 1898 issue of Academy, and later collected in Notes on Life & Letters.
