Emma Amos (1937-2020) was a post-modern painter known for critically treating issues of racism and sexism in often-autobiographical work that combines figurative painting, textiles, and printmaking. She was a member of the pioneering African-American collective, Spiral, and of the feminist groups Heresies and Guerilla Girls.
