Ronald Victor Courtenay Bodley, MC (1892-1970), a British army officer, lived in Japan in the early 1930s, and was considered by Westerners at that time to be a preeminent source of knowledge on the area, proving to be erroneous on whether the Japanese were building military force prior to World War II. He wrote A Japanese Omelette during his time teaching at Keio University in 1933.
