About the item

1 page. 12mo. Bifolium. Old folds, fine. Letters of William Cullen Bryant, 1081.

Item #308792

Bryant writes to accept an invitation to an oration by American statesman Edward Everett sponsored by the Mercantile Library Association, at the Academy of Music in New York. Bryant has evidently misdated his letter, as the lecture was on March 9. (Four years later Everett would deliver a two hour oration at the dedication of the Gettysburg National Ceremony, just before Lincoln delivered his two minute Gettysburg address).
