With all its sinful doings, I must say,
That Italy’a a pleasant place to me,

Attractive untrimmed copy of Byron’s light verse tale (with numerous asides from the “broken Dandy” he styled himself), written in 1817 while he stayed in Venice, entangled in love affairs. “The complications of these amorous adventures form the source of much amusement in his letters home, but more importantly, they initiated a sequence of events that culminated in the writing of Beppo (‘in two nights’) early in October” (ODNB). It was also at this time that Byron commenced wirting Don Juan.
