Item #252363

A fine facsimile of the first edition of Burton’s translation, produced by the Burton Society for private circulation, and with the addition of illustrations by Stanley L. Wood not found in the original. Burton's translation has been variously assailed since its publication by prudes and pettifoggers and has weathered the storms of criticism. Burton's magnum opus contributed to the twentieth-century recognition of the Nights as one of the world's literary masterpieces.
