Seamus Heaney was an Irish playwright, translator, and poet. In 1995 he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. He was a widely praised poet and declared by Robert Lowell as "the most important Irish poet since Yeats". His most notable works are Death of a Naturalist (1966), North (1975), Field Work (1979), The Spirit Level (1996), District and Circle (2006), and Human Chain (2010).
