Lord Alfred Tennyson was Poet Laureate during much of the Victorian era and his fame endures to this day. His works range in subject matter from alluding to medieval legends, classical myths, nature, and familiar domestic situations. His great works commence with In Memorian (1850) and include The Charge of the Light Brigade (1855) and Idylls of the King (1867-8).
