Item #244109

A suppressed Richard Herne Shepherd piracy of Tennyson's Lover's Tale and 16 other poems. Wise notes trial editions of The Lover's Tale in 1830 (6 copies printed) and 1868 (2 copies); the first published edition appeared in 1879. This piracy follows the text of the 1830 trial issue, with the heroine's name spelled Cadrilla (not Camilla). Wise notes six Herne Shepherd piracies of The Lover's Tale, this being the third.
