Widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's most distinguished dramatist, William Shakespeare, also known as the Bard of Avon, has had his works performed more than any other playwright. Despite the authorship of some of his works disputed, he is attributed to many extant works such as 38 plays, 154 sonnets, and two long narrative poems.
