The Scottish historical novelist Porter (1776-1850) writes to a Miss Wallace, in part: "Mr. Hibbert writes to me – 'I was vexed that I could not do more honour the other evening, to your introduction– a lady whose Name even independently of her own merits must ever be a favourable preface,'" and urging a joint visit to Lady Lister, "we might go half an hour before, to see your great Ancestor." Porter detailed the life and exploits of Scottish hero William Wallace in her historical novel of 1810, The Scottish Chiefs.
