Inscribed from William Merritt Chase to his wife-to-be Alice "Pansy" Gerson on Christmas 1884. The two were family friends and eventually were married in 1886 after an extended courtship of seven years. The Gersons became a majoir part of Chase's family. Together they had 8 children. A great association.
