Siegfied Loraine Sassoon was an English soldier, writer, and poet. He was one of the leading World War One poets, and his poetry described the conditions and horrors seen in the trenches, and satirized pretensions of the patriots who he believed were to blame for the jingoism-war. His most notable works include "Soldier's Declaration" and "Sherston trilogy".
