George Eliot is one of the most celebrated female novelists of the nineteenth century. She wrote seven novels that include The Mill on the Floss (1860), Silas Marner (1861), Middlemarch (1871-72), and Daniel Deronda (1876). Middlemarch is considered to be one of the best novels ever written in the English language.
