Charles Lever (1806-72) Irish Novelist, born of English parentage in Dublin, graduated at Trinity College in 1827, and got his M.D. at Gottingen. He became a prolific and popular author. His most popular work, Charles O'Malley, tells of his own college life in Dublin. he was encouraged by Thackeray and admired by George Eliot and Anthony Trollope.
