Item #11652

The first of only three numbers of this rare little magazine edited by Graves, with the signatures of the contributors, including Graves himself, Max Beerbohm, John Galsworthy, Siegried Sasson, John Masefield, Robert Nichols, W.H. Davies, and others. The first two were issued in May and October of 1919, the third and final issue in November of 1923.

Graves’s announced the editorial policy in his preface: “[The Owl] has no politics, leads no new movement and is not even the organ of any particular generation…But we find in common a love of honest work well done, and a distaste for short cuts to popular success.” Very scarce.
