The second authorized London edition, a close reprint of the 1737 Roberts edition. By the time this edition was published, Fielding had ended his dramatic career, effectively silenced by the Theatrical Licensing Act of 1737, which censored the stage and limited theatrical performances to Drury Lane, Covent Garden, and the Royal Opera House.
