The Limited Editions Club

The Limited Editions Club, founded in 1929 by George Macy, produced high-quality, finely illustrated limited editions of the classics of literature and some few contemporary titles. The press paired texts by great authors such as Angelou, Borges, Cather, Conrad, Faulkner, Hemingway, Joyce, Kafka, Milosz, Paz, Poe, Rilke, Rimbaud, Walcott, Margaret Walker, and Walt Whitman with original art by 20th century masters like Romare Bearden, Berenice Abbott, Balthus, Cartier-Bresson, Elizabeth Catlett, Allan Rohan Crite, de Kooning, Edmund Dulac, Eisenstaedt, Ellsworth Kelly, Jacob Lawrence, Sol Le Witt, Mapplethorpe, Matisse, Motherwell, Alice Neel, Picasso, Arthur Rackham, and Robert Ryman.
