Art from the collection of Waiting for Godot Books

James Cummins Bookseller is proud to present a list of art from the collection of Waiting for Godot Books, which as many of you now know we bought in partnership with Between the Covers Rare Books. For more than forty years Gary Oleson and Francine Ness operated privately as Waiting for Godot Books, specializing, as the name may indicate, in literature, but also in various other fields. They were also serious collectors of art and photography. This list – one of many to come, including a list of Hogarth Press, and one of Jorge Luis Borges – is filled with excellent material in 20th Century art and avant-garde, including good holdings in Dada, Surrealism, and post-war art and photography, as well as a complete run of Aspen magazine, and a portfolio of photos by the American modernist David Hare, a run of Ed Ruscha books, and a section devoted to the Société Anonyme.
