Shute typescript material is exceedingly scare in the market as his papers went to the National Library of Australia. This typescript of the last novel he completed bears a presentation from his daughter Heather Norway.

“Keith Stewart’s vicissitudes point to the common link between all of Shute’s other ‘little men’ — Mr. Honey, Tom Cutter, Jack Turner, the Pied Piper, the Scot pilot and slaves in An Old Captivity — for all of these characters undertake successful journeys that are made near epic chiefly by the limitations of time or character” (Smith).
