Extra-illustrated with the addition of 2 full page plates at the end (dated 1841). Thes albums depict the battles of the French army against the forces of Ad el-Kader in Algeria. The engagements depicted took place in November of 1836 and October of 1837. Though not generally appreciated in his own time, Raffet was later thought to be one of France’s great engravers. Beraldi saying that Raffet’s was “the greatest name of the century in original prints.” Atherton Curtis p. 116.
