Item #61653

This early edition of Ovid's Heroides is bound with several other Ovidian texts, including the "Amorum libri III," the "de arte amande libri III," and the "de remedia armoria libri II"

The Heroides, Ovid's poems in the form of imagined letters by the women of classical mythology to their absent husbands, take pride of place in this volume. Ovid's imagined missives by Penelope to Odysseus or Medea to Jason sit side by side with letters from Briseis to Achilles, or Dido to Aeneas, uniting Greek and Latin literature.

A sweet little book for any lover of Ovid.
