Originally published by Scot in 1584, the Discoverie claims that witchcraft was mere legerdemain. James I believed that Scot's book contributed to a laxness in rooting our witchcraft and order all copies of the book be burned in 1603. Rodker's edition was prepared by Montague Summers.
