Prayer book in the Abnaki dialect, edited and with notes by Vetromile (1819-81), who was born at Gallipoli and educated at Georgetown College in Washington, D.C. His missionary work was almost exclusively done in Maine, and he wrote extensively on the Abnaki peoples. Several Abnaki dialects are employed in this volume, including Penobscot, Mareschite or St.John's, Passamaquoddy, and Micmac.
