Excellent souvenir of director and cast of a classic film noir, shot in the Saint-Denis neighborhood of Montreal in the fall of 1950. Directed by Otto Preminger, the working title was The Scarlet Pen; featuring Charles Boyer, Linda Darnell, Michael Rennie, Constance Smith, and Françoise Rosay, it was a remake of the 1943 French film Le Corbeau, and was ultimately released the following year as The Thirteenth Letter. The inscriptions read: Dear Al, if you'll like the ‘Scarlet Pen’ as much as we of the ‘Scarlet Pen’ like you – we have nothing to worry about. Cordially, Otto Preminger Montreal, Oct. 1950. Ce fut une grande joie pour moi de collaborer modestement a ce film sous la direction de Otto Preminger … and to meet you F. Rosay Sincerest wishes Michael Rennie Best wishes Constance Smith Oct. 1950. Do promise me that you will photograph me one day without a head! En souvenir de Montreal and of the ‘Scarlet Pen’.
