Original light tan cloth by Edmonds & Remnants, with label on pastedown, spine and central lozenge on upper cover in gilt, covers ruled in blind. some soiling and darkening of cloth, chiping to head and tail of spine, lower free endpaper torn and creased, some light offsetting at front and back from endpapers, a few fingerprints, else very good.

The British amateur composer wrote the opera “Domenica,”“Lucinda,”and “The Bridal of Triermain,” the first of which was produced at Drury Lany. In 1857 he published his noted oratoria “Paradise lost.” He was the author of some 5 symphonies, four orchestra overtures, two volumes of poetry and many songs and duets.
