The best edition of Shackleton's memoirs of his monumental 1907-09 Nimrod Expedition, known for crossing the Trans-Antarctic mountain range, making the first ascent and survey of Mount Erebus, and coming within a hundred miles of the South Pole.

The Antarctic Book is signed by all. This set additionally inscribed by Shackleton to his friend Sandor von Hegedüs, dated 8 April 1911: "To my friend and co-authority Hegedüs Sandor with warmest thoughts and best wishes..." Hegedius was also godfather of Shackleton’s son Edward.
