The letter is in very good condition; neatly and tastefully mounted on quarto sheet of laid paper, within single ink rule.

American author Louisa J. Hall (1802-1892) was best known for her "verse-novel," 'Miriam: A Dramatic Poem,' first published in 1837, and widely reprinted. Her other works include 'Sheaves of Love,' (1861), 'Alfred' (1836), 'Joanna of Naples' (1838), 'A Dramatic Fragment,' etc. [see Blain. 'Feminist Companion to Literature in English,' p. 476].
