Item #345300

The first French edition of von Sacher Masoch’s Venus in Furs, in the translation by Raphaël Ledos de Beaufort, published by the enterprising Charles Carrington. Only a few copies are recorded of the first issue with an explicit heliogravure frontispiece, and even this second or remainder issue without the plate is uncommon. This copy is a contemporary fine binding from Victor Arias in Mdrid, with a supralibros of a crown surmounted by a screaming eagle, motto Moriendo Vives in banner.
