A tennis player, in playing garb and racket under his arm, pauses for a deep swig from his flask.
"William Steig is the doyen of New Yorker artists, having contributed to the magazine since 1930. He is the author of more than forty books, including many beloved children's books. His drawings and watercolors are in the permanent collections of numerous museums … " (The New Yorker, Dec. 15, 1997).
