A letter addressed to the Duke of Devonshire following his speech and comments on the cause or reasons behind the Anglo-Boer War and the British interventions in the Transvaal in 1899. Boissevain blamed the politicians, Cecil Rhodes and Joseph Chamberlain specifically, and “The Times ” citing reasons and explaining how the Dutch and other Europeans saw the action. Boissevain was a Dutch journalist and the editor of the “Algemeen Hendelsblad”.
