Joseph Varney Baker (19080) after graduating from Temple worked as a journalist, becoming the first African-American journalist at the Philadelphia Inquirer and later as the city editor of the Philadelphia Tribune. In 1934 he founded the PR firm which bears his name, believed to be the first such firm focussing on African American audiences. The illustrations in this periodical comprise black-and-white photographs of African-American railway workers and administrators, community members, etc. This a special issue, devoted entirely to Texas, including articles about Texas colleges, "Texas and the Railroads," "Railroads Discuss Equal Employment Opportunity," etc. OCLC locates only three holdings: Yale, NYPL and Virginia.
